Who is a good candidate for the Vibrant Aging Community Center?

Seniors who can generally care for themselves, yet want access to assistance when necessary. Persons convalescing from medical treatment

Seniors who require assistance with mobility and other activities of daily living

Seniors seeking to be connected within a community of friends and acquaintances to stave off isolation and loneliness.

We offer assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) -e.g. grooming, bathing, bathroom needs, getting dressed etc

Who is not a good candidate for living at Vibrant Aging Community Center?

Someone who requires continuous medical or nursing care services of any kind that is usually provided in a nursing home or hospital.

Someone who has harmed himself or herself or others, or has demonstrated behaviors that pose a risk of serious harm to himself or herself or others.

What type of facility is Vibrant Aging Community Center?

It is an assisted living facility for people ages 65 years and older. It is a residence specially designed for older persons, and it also offers an adult day care program.

What is the difference between Senior Living, Assisted Living, and Nursing homes?

Senior Living is a residential community that encompasses a range of living options for older adults starting from fully independent and can offer one or a combination of living options. Assisted Living is one type of Senior Living option-ideal for senior adults who may require varying levels of assistance with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.

A Nursing Home is a medical institution designed to provide advanced, skilled medical care for patient residents.

VACC is not a nursing home, a hospital, clinic, or a long-term medical facility.

What does assisted living at VACC provide?

We provide short-term and long-term assistance to seniors who need and desire some help in their day-to-day activities of living.

Living at VACC allows for a level of independence while also providing a safe environment that ensures the senior is well cared for at all times

It fosters and encourages independence where possible as a vital part in maintaining dignity and vibrancy in old age.

It provides opportunities to explore and engage in a variety of activities designed to provide a meaningful old age experience and enhance vibrant aging.

At what age can I live at VACC?

65 years and older. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis for those younger but seeking admission while recovering from illness.

Can I bring my own furnishings?

The rooms are fully furnished, but clients may bring small prized and personal pieces to personalize room.

Is smoking allowed?

VACC is a tobacco-free campus and discourages smoking and chewing tobacco on the premises. However, we may consider exceptions on a case by case basis.

What kind of activities and events are offered?

We have a Calendar of daily activities and a Calendar of Special Events featuring various activities for different facets of older age living including, community, social, exercise and wellness, board games, Movie Nights etc.

Can I bring a care provider or assistant to live with me at VACC?

Not usually. A trained VACC team attends to our VACC residents. We may consider exceptions on a case by case basis.

Can I have overnight guests?

VACC may consider overnight guests on a case-by-case basis.

How much does it cost to stay at the residence?

Daily rate ranges from GHC350 to GHC550 Ghana Cedis inclusive of VAT
