VACC Commissioning May 26 2022

On Thursday May 26th, 2022 Vibrant Aging Community Center (VACC) was formally commissioned by the Paramount Chief of Effutuland Traditional Areas, Neenyi Ghartey VII, in Winneba, Ghana, Central Region.

It is true that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. VACC began its improbable journey with a single step of faith by its founder, Dr. Francesca Colecraft Dwamena in 2016.  Right from the beginning, all who became involved understood the enormity of the vision and mission, preparing themselves as best as they could for the challenge. Each keenly appreciated from the start that this most audacious goal of creating a vibrant and engaging assisted living facility for senior citizens in Ghana would demand stoutness of heart, intestinal fortitude, focus, discipline and a dedicated community of willing and able participants, to assist, guide, and to bring to fruition the vision.  With its formal commissioning on Thursday May 26th 2022, a significant milestone was reached, and thanks to the collective effort and participation, done so with resounding success!

The morning’s event kicked off with a thrilling traditional welcome by the School of Creative Arts University of Education Cultural Troupe. There were inspirational speeches, goodwill messages, exhortations, and prayers, a special gift presentation to VACC by Dr. Esi Ansah, Director of Association for Ghana’s Elders (AGE), the unveiling of bust of the late Mr. Joseph Assandoh-one of the inspirations for VACC, the ribbon cutting and dedication service, followed by guided tour of the facility.
